Canadian Railroads > Freight Car Friday - Emergency Responder Training Tank CarDate: 08/02/19 22:32 Freight Car Friday - Emergency Responder Training Tank Car Author: feclark Non-revenue car CCPX 911 is the Canadian Chemical Producers Association "classroom" car, a purpose that's a little more explicit in the French version on the right side of the car, "wagon-ecole" (pardon my missing acute accent). It would appear to be intended for training of emergency responders, hence the 911 number, and you'll notice it has a door in the side, and 10 evident and different valves/hatches. My guess would be there are different tricks to opening/shutting these things, to control fluid escape in the event of an accident. This car is in the consist of CN #401 on October 23, 1999, passing through or into Edmonton, I think near Fort Road. For what it's worth, a photo of this appeared in Canadian Railway Modeller Train 13 Track 3, the July-August 2004 issue. That photo was taken in Ottawa some time in May 2004, set up for tours, painted in a blue livery with white lettering. It's the opposite side of the car, also with a door.

I didn't realize you were referring to the trip you just took. Here's what it looked like before... Brantford, ON 2012-09-20.
