MLW Monday, brand new
Author: eminence_grise

Just before Christmas 1972, the CN longue Pointe engine terminal is full of CN S-series switch engines idled for the holiday. This brand new BCR M630 has just been picked up at the MLW factory in Montreal East, and will be delivered to the CN to take to Vancouver BC.

This tail end image shows that the BCR locomotives had the number board notches typical of the US Alco Century series.

One of a group of eight  630's that the railway retained for a time after the Big GE's arrived in 1990,
M-630 719 would be the last of the 630's on the railway still in her twotone green paint (though not this version of that scheme)
