Canadian Railroads > Brand New CP SD70ACU 7000 now running as leader on coal train

Initially, CP's new SD70ACU locomotives were not used as leaders,
but now, for the first time, CP SD70ACU 7000 is on the point of a loaded coal train.

1. CP train 867 loaded coal crosses Hunter Creek on CN's Yale Sub, west of Hope, B.C.
2. Passing through Rosedale on CN's Yale Sub, just east of Chilliwack, B.C.

The "new" EMD's should provide welcome relief from the endless parade of widenose GE's.

Are these rated at 4300 or 4500hp?

Three locations I don't think I've seen posted before; the third shot is a really neat perspective. A non-GE; who woulda thunk? I know, they do have other stuff too.

According to Wikipedia they are 4500HP.

Just for clarity these appear to be the ex-UPrr SD90 rebuilds, had to dig around to find that out:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70ACU

There are only 2 ex-UP units scheduled to be in CP's order, and the last listing I saw had them in the second batch. These first four should all be ex-9100 series.

aha, forgot CP had bought this frame / locomotive as well.

NS acquired 100 former UP units and 10 former CIT Leasing units, all of which were rebuilt to SD70ACU's:
