Canadian Railroads > The Children's Investment Fund now owns 7.62 % of CP stockDate: 09/03/19 10:53 The Children's Investment Fund now owns 7.62 % of CP stock Author: Marcus Anybody remember The Children's Investment Fund ?
The UK based hedge fund and partners waged a bitter proxy war to win 4 seats on the CSX board in 2008, only to withdraw a year later after CSX stock price dropped by more than half. Now, they are buying big into CP. In a February, 2019 filing = 7,835,316 shares or 5.58% of CP. In a September, 2019 filing = 10,565,984 shares of 7.62% of CP. In addition, TCI has been buying CN stock, owning 2.6 % of CN. But selling off a third of their UP holdings, down to 0.65 % of UP. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/16875/000090266419003602/p19-1840sc13ga.htm https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/16875/000090266419001020/p19-0200sc13g.htm Date: 09/03/19 11:25 Re: The Children's Investment Fund now owns 7.62 % of CP stock Author: Lackawanna484 About 68% of CP's shares were held by institutions, including TCI. In Wall Street parlance, this usually refers to pension plan managers, college endowments, mutual fund operators, etc.
TCI was the largest holder, with the Royal Bank of Canada just behind it. (I was a little surprised at the mix. At CSX, about 80% of the shares were held by managers such as Vanguard, Fidelity, State Street, etc.) Date: 09/03/19 13:25 Re: The Children's Investment Fund now owns 7.62 % of CP stock Author: MP403 TCI has had this position for a while. They also are invested in CN and UP.
