The Canadian arriving early
Author: DrawingroomA

Although the Canadian in both directions is often a few hours late, the arrivals in Vancouver and Toronto have recently been early.

Number 1 just arrived in Vancouver at 04:55 - three hours five minutes early. Other recent arrivals have been two and two and a half hours ahead of schedule. Even Toronto has seen early arrivals of #2 in the past week - one hour and two hours -  something that has not occurred in a few months.

It showed 2 hr, 46 min early just now before it disappeared off the screen at asm.transitdocs. Still a very good performance.

And this week's No. 4 made the first early arrival in Edmonton since that train started running on April 30 -- a whole 1 hr, 17 min early.

Passenger trains are not supposed to arrive hours early or hours late.  They are supposed to depart on time and arrive on time.

So if they are headed to the next stop early with the fat in the schedule, what are they suppsoed to do - sit on a siding and wait ?

Which will cause some entitled "passenger" to make nasty posts on the internet.

In my old rule book, scheduled trains could arrive early at a station,  but not depart early.
Give it up screamliner.

What happens to the passengers in Vancouver when the train arrives that early? Can they stay on unitl a more reasonable hour?
