Interesting that Al Quiring will be involved ... if you haven't watched Highway Through Hell this will mean nothing to you.

I'm surprised the publicity release didn't include a photo of the tank.

A new anti-trespassing policy being implemented?

The "Highway through Hell" is BC Highway 5 where it crosses the Coquihalla Pass between Merritt and Hope BC.  This highway crosses a high pass with sudden weather changes.
When completed for Expo 86 in Vancouver, it reduced the travel time between Kamloops and Vancouver by an hour and a half.

Prior to 1961, the CP crossed over this pass, however changing traffic patterns and a rock slide prone portion of the route made CP decide to close the route and eventually abandon it.

The TV Discovery Channel series is actually filmed on three highways, BC 1, the Trans-Canada through the Fraser Canyon, BC 3, the Hope Princeton built in the early 1960's just north of the US border, and Highway 5.

For those interested in seeing this operation (I missed it!), my sources tell me it left Dartmouth on 407 Friday morning, and would have been on 305 out of Moncton, Saturday morning.  It is un-tarped, so should be easy to spot.

I'm not sure how fast 305 makes its way west, but there's a good chance of seeing it in daylight tomorrow (Sunday) between Montreal and Toronto.

I did a Google search and found a photo of a Centurion tank.  Will be looking forward to photos of it taken on its trip across the Provinces.

The tank has arrived on the West Coast, and will be featured in Canada's Remembrance Day observances.
