This highway crosses a high pass with sudden weather changes. When completed for Expo 86 in Vancouver, it reduced the travel time between Kamloops and Vancouver by an hour and a half. Prior to 1961, the CP crossed over this pass, however changing traffic patterns and a rock slide prone portion of the route made CP decide to close the route and eventually abandon it. The TV Discovery Channel series is actually filmed on three highways, BC 1, the Trans-Canada through the Fraser Canyon, BC 3, the Hope Princeton built in the early 1960's just north of the US border, and Highway 5. It is un-tarped, so should be easy to spot.
I'm not sure how fast 305 makes its way west, but there's a good chance of seeing it in daylight tomorrow (Sunday) between Montreal and Toronto. GTD Date: 11/02/19 17:40 Re: Canadian National to a haul a Centurion tank cross country Author: boejoe I did a Google search and found a photo of a Centurion tank. Will be looking forward to photos of it taken on its trip across the Provinces.
