Repurposed MR-63's
Author: ghCBNS

The MR-63’s were the original rubber-tired Montreal Metro cars in service from 1966 to 2018. One is on display at Expo Rail (below) and one has now been nicely repurposed as a Student Lounge at the Montreal Polytechnique:

The way the Polytech car is suspended on beams, it is sort of like imagining what a Montreal subway car would look like on a Chicago or NYC el.

Can anyone go to their campus and get on it ?

Nice to see metro/subway cars preserved and some repurposed. Looks like the school did a great job with the Montreal car.

Goose Island Brewery in Chicago converted a CTA Budd 2200-series car into a beer concession wagon. Funny seeing a license plate on a subway car!

As the article says it will be open to the public on Nov 10th.  I believe that this will be a one day only event.  Based on the tragic events at the Polytech those many years ago, I think that security may be a bit tight and not open to the general public!
