Switcher Saturday TH&B
Author: briancdn

Their NW2's were built by EMD, the SW9's by GMD. The NW2's ended their careers on the TH&B, but many of the SW9's went on to serve for many years on industrials and shortlines.

Interesting the switchers are carrying poles and chains, not that common on Canadian switchers.

A great roster and unit dispostion is available here http://www.thbrailway.ca/diesel/diesel.htm

I photographed these TH&B switchers in Hamilton in Oct 1977

Photo three with the roundhouse in the background is my favorite.

The second shot denotes how cold the day is the way that brakeman is dressed..

All gorgeous, love the winterization boards, and would love to know the story of that hood on the flat in the first photo.

Looks like it's covering an EMD prime mover. Blowers sticking out.
