CN FPA-2m
Author: briancdn

Around 1957 MLW took two FPA-2's and two FPB-2's and replaced the 244 prime mover with 251's, becoming the forerunner of the successful FPA-4. The 244's were then used in CN's unique RSC-24's.

6758 and 6759 were just part of CN's passenger power pool out of Montreal and could be found anytime on anything. So not unique to see or photograph, but still an important milestone in MLW history. I'm not sure if the FPA-4 program was already under way when these FPA-2's were converted.

I'm including an FPA-4 shot that shows clearly the added radiatior section of the -4. I never heard of the FPA-2m's having cooling issues. They made it to VIA paint; and I saw them many times.

And I'm including an amazing day of catching both FPA-2m's on a commuter train at St Hubert, spliced by an FPB-4. I was driving my girlfriend to the station when I saw what was on the head end. I only managed a lousy going away shot in almost total winter darkness; but I never saw this combo again!
