Fast Forty Friday - CN Widenose Pan at Snider
Author: feclark

In digging up some particular slides, I ran across this one from the same pocket in the Logan file, and think I might beat midnight to post. From June 17, 1978, this is GP40-2L(W) 9417 leading GP9 4513 on an EB at 1452. The consist comprises 81 gondolas, boxes, and flats, and is headed east on the York Sub, having just departed MacMillan Yard in Toronto. It's coming up to Snider diamond; the background train came in SB on the Newmarket Sub, turning WB to enter the yard. The cloudy day led me to try this pan, executed on K64 with 1/30 of a second, f11. The train isn't moving as fast as the pan would suggest, but EB exited Mac yard heading south, then took a flyover to cross over the WB exit. So the train is on an appreciable downgrade as it picks up speed.
