Canadian Railroads > CP train 53 at Midway BC, 1977Date: 11/25/19 17:34 CP train 53 at Midway BC, 1977 Author: eminence_grise Two friends rode CP train 53 from Nelson to Midway BC with permission on the former secondary main line across southern BC.
A little bit of theatre for the fans here. Usually the train would pull up the main as soon as it arrived at Midway, as the line was closed thirty miles to the west since 1971.. However, the train stopped long enough at Midway so that my friends and me could form at photo line beyond the station . In years past, the Nelson based crew would change with a Penticton crew at this location. The caboose in the background was used for the couple of times a month that a train operated west to Beaverdell to pick up cars of dolomite rock. A Penticton crew would taxi east from Penticton, and use a locomotive from the train from Nelson to make a Beaverdell turn. The tracks are gone since 1989, but the station and caboose are preserved. The Great Northern had a nearly paralell line through Midway, which the GN called Ferry WA. The US Border is about 500 feet from this location. I switched to Fuji 100 after Kodak's processing quality in Canada deteriorated Date: 11/26/19 07:14 Re: CP train 53 at Midway BC, 1977 Author: briancdn Really nicely composed shot! A classic CPR scene.
