The Toronto of my youth!  I left for the States before the CLRV era; all I remember are the PCCs.

My experience as well although I lived in Toronto for only a few years in the mid 70s. So when I started to hear about the TTC retiring the "old" streetcars, all I could think of were the PCCs.

Would really be interesting to know the heritage of 4549.
25 PCC's were ordered by Louisville Railway.  All went to Cleveland.  15 received by Louisville railway were never put in service; they were shipped in new condition to cleveland.
10 ordered but not received were ddelivered directly to Cleveland.  Louisville Railway received 20 new buses and cash in return for the PCC cars.
After Cleveland shut down trolley operation, some if not all of the "Louisville" cars were sold to Toronto.
Thanks for the photo posting.

The 1997 TSG lists 4549 as being rebuilt in 1986 and still on the roster, but there is no mention of it coming from another transit company.  The builder is just shown as CC&F/St. Louis.  Perhaps that means that the shells and frames were built by St. Louis, and the cars were finished by Canadian Car and Foundry?
