Canadian Railroads > Four Forty FridayDate: 01/17/20 05:25 Four Forty Friday Author: cn6218 Three or four GP40-2Ls on a priority train in the Maritimes wasn't all that uncommon in the '70s and '80s (if they weren't being hauled by MLWs), but it was fairly notable in 2001. On March 11 of that year, 9449, 9482, 9515 and 9492 were hauling the intermodal block of train 120 into the Halifax Intermodal Terminal under the A. Murray MacKay Bridge. In 2001 there was still a switch at the east end of the Deepwater Spur, so the power could run around the train after spotting the cars. When the Irving Shipyard expanded a few years later, that switch and the tail track were eliminated. 9492 was retired later that same year, but the other three are still on the roster.
