"P.E.I" was built by Armstrong Whitworth at Newcastle on Tyne,England in 1914 and could hold 12 cars on the rail deck. At the time, she improved access to P.E.I. from Nova Scotia because she had an ice breaking bow. . Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/17/20 20:22 by eminence_grise. There was never any railcar ferry service between Pictou, NS and PEI. Pictou is about 10km from Caribou NS where Northumberland Ferries still operates a seasonal passenger car and truck ferry to Wood Islands PEI.
The CN Station (above) had passenger trains to Stellarton and New Glasgow - 16 miles......and also to Oxford Jct located on the CN mainline between Halifax and Moncton. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/17/20 12:16 by ghCBNS. |
