On July 18, 1999 the Windsor & Hantsport's wayfreight was making the return trip from Windsor Jct., NS to Windsor with cars from the CN interchange.  RS-23s 8038 and 8036 (the last RS-23 to operate on the WHRC) were moving at a pretty good clip as they crossed the Beaverbank Rd. and passed Barret's Lumber Yard, about 3 miles from the junction. Track speed in DAR days was 40 mph for freights, and it was probably still good for 30 mph in most places at this time.

In the second image the train is in a deep rock cut near Mt. Uniacke and is about to pass underneath Hwy 101.  This cut was the source of severe cost overruns when the line was built 150 years earlier by the province, and almost led to the dismissal of the chief engineer.

Finally, at mile 19.5, the train is passing the Stillwater Hermit's shack.  A recluse lived there until a few years ago.  I'm told the conductor on the daily passenger train would toss out a newspaper for him as the train passed, but Stillwater was only a siding, not a passenger stop.
