Canadian Railroads > Trains leaving Mac yard 1983Date: 03/24/20 05:18 Trains leaving Mac yard 1983 Author: briancdn These shots were taken of trains headed down the Halton sub (?) out of Mac yard north of Toronto in 1983. The land around MacMillan yard was still largely undeveloped. allowing for wide open action shots. I used to make frequent visits to Toronto, but rarely visit today. Maybe somebody could post a 'today' shot to see how much development has taken place. I don't remember the name of the street I was standing on.
I could be wrong here on the orientation, feel free to straighten me out! Brian N. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/24/20 05:22 by briancdn. Date: 03/24/20 05:19 Re: Trains leaving Mac yard 1983 Author: hoggerdoug Looks like a bunch of BCOL lumber loads in the first image.
Good stuff. Doug Date: 03/24/20 07:32 Re: Trains leaving Mac yard 1983 Author: NS8552 Hi Brian, that's Keele Street. You're right about there being a lot more development in the area now along with hydro towers and wires in the picture on both sides. In your first shot, the train is passing over a diamond with the Newmarket sub just out of view to the right. The Newmarket sub now is on an overpass.
Thanks, Ken Date: 03/24/20 20:41 Re: Trains leaving Mac yard 1983 Author: Nscaler For comparison, 01 August 2008.
Looking north from the Regional Road #7 overpass. A definite problem with wires. |
