BC Rail in the Canyon
Author: cp1400

Not the canyons BC Rail is known for but none the less catching a BC Rail unit on the point anywhere is a treat these days. Especially since BCOL 4645 still has original bell and horn.

BCOL 4645 was leading CN train 412 from Thornton Yard in the Vancouver BC area east towards Edmonton and beyond. Added interest was CN Dash 8-40CM 2422 still sporting its as delivered paint scheme from 1990. The cowl dash 8 units are slated for storage and retirement from the CN roster. Catch them while you can.

1. In notch 8 climbing Haig Hill on CP near the town of Hope BC

2. Departing Saddle Rock

3. Crossing Spuzzum Creek

Added bonus....

A video recording of the unique K5L horn as they blow for three crossings through Yale BC. Turn up the sound and enjoy the echo in the mountains.

Beautiful photos. Photo seven with 4645 leaning into the curve is almost 3-D.

I'm not sure how you could have had a more productive chase!  Lots of classic photo spots.  It's been years since I was up that way, but those trips were some of the best ones I've ever made.

Beautiful compositions and locations, and you couldn't have had better luck with cloud and sun at the right times for the angles. Nice.
