Canadian Railroads > Latest update from VIADate: 03/28/20 15:08 Latest update from VIA Author: DrawingroomA There are no further changes to the few trains still operating. This is about pre-boarding screening.
https://media.viarail.ca/en/press-releases/2020/latest-rail-update-in-response-to-covid19-march28 I am told that the few passengers have plenty of space for "physical distancing." The media have decided that the term "social distancing" is no longer politically correct so I acquiesce. VIA is running more coaches than they need to in order to keep people apart. For example, all trains on the Toronto - Windsor route have had five coaches, more than they need according to my source. Date: 03/29/20 03:01 Re: Latest update from VIA Author: andersonb109 What is politically incorrect about the term "social distancing?" But again, this is from a country that changed the words "all thy son's command" in their national anthem to "all of us command" because apparently the original version was sexist. Geez.
Date: 03/29/20 06:39 Re: Latest update from VIA Author: DrawingroomA I was being facetious, but there was a comment in a Toronto newspaper that some people think the term "social" was inappropriate when distancing is really "anti-social."
Since I posted the link there has been a further advisory from VIA. Corridor trains are being reduced to once a day effective Tuesday the 31st. https://www.viarail.ca/en/travel-advisory-information |
