made my first  meet with these  units in august 57 when 1276 and 1277 came to kitimat replacing 2-8-0s that were predominant on the cn north line. rode the train down to the alcan  int erchange with a cn engineer i bacme a good friend with earlier in the year. went to the  station every saturday to ride to the water tower 2 miles west and then wying the engine and spotting her for the evening run. we had pacific 5000 in regular service until april 30th 195
