An F-unit With A View
Author: refarkas

It is mid-June 1972, and I am in the cab of an F-unit looking out at Toronto.

Judging by the switcher in the scene, this would be John St.?  Spadina always gets mentioned as a spot the was railfan friendly, but I guess CP was too, if they were allowing visits to the cabs. :-)

These days you can still visit here (and grab an innoculous brew at the same time), so I guess not ETTS.

That F-Unit windshield looked out at a very interesting scene.
Always nice to encounter friendly railroaders.
Thanks for the especially nice and interesting photo posting.

I suppose the only trains service here at the time were the Havelock RDC trains and the Canadian. Pretty orderly place from all appearances. You can almost the feel the Hudsons and Pacifics that used to frequent the coal tower.

Yes, it's John Street.

Never had any problems wandering around the place, it was always fun to see Credit Valley 136 and 1057 (both ex-CPR)  housed there.

Always nice to sample "Steam Whistle's" product when visiting Toronto, lots of great photos of John Street hanging on the walls.  Then there is the railway museum, always worth a visit.

At the time CP Rail also worked on its yard switcher fleet as well as the RDC's to Buffalo, NY.
