Canadian Railroads > Red Deer subdivision CTCDate: 05/19/20 16:17 Red Deer subdivision CTC Author: cn1063 Perhaps some late breaking news, but CP is extending CTC northward from Airdrie to Netook. For those unfamiliar with the geography, the Red Deer sub runs north from Calgary to Red Deer 96 miles, which is halfway to Edmonton. Traffic on the line has been increasing with crude oil shipments, as well as an increase of traffic on the north mainline route, which runs from a connection with the mainline at Portage La Prairie Manitoba, northwest through Saskatoon, to a Junction with the Leduc subdivison at Wetaskiwin. CTC was installed between Calgary and Airdrie in 2005, and the plan is to install CTC from Netook (mile 63) to Red Deer in 2021.
