CN's more gentle grades make this possible, although I'm sure that the loading and unloading capabilities at origin and destination come into play here, too. Although they have run some bigger car counts.

i was wondering IF 30,000 ton trains were being run up in canada, especially over grades like kicking horse and rogers passes......... 66 Date: 06/20/20 06:48 Re: max unit train tonnage question Author: sarailfan Keep in mind CP is a 1% railroad westbound. The potash cars are new enough that they apparently have good brakes, grain trains seem more likely to have issues on the descending westbound grades (which exceed 2% on both passes)
