TJY Date: 07/03/20 07:49 Re: A little Prince Edward Island action June 1973 Author: SPJoe Great Pic. Wish I could have made it to PEI while it still had trains. It's on my bucket list, especially since I have relatives near that area (lot 14) that I've never met.
Joe Date: 07/03/20 10:15 Re: A little Prince Edward Island action June 1973 Author: eminence_grise There was a huge fleet of MDT ice reefers which hauled PEI potatos to the eastern US, some are visible to the left of the photo. They weren't iced for this traffic, but their insulation meant the spuds weren't subjected to huge temperature variations.
There are some stock cars visible. The towers are feed mills, and I suspect the covered hopper car bought fertilizer to PEI. Date: 07/03/20 15:00 Re: A little Prince Edward Island action June 1973 Author: refarkas I'm surprised to see what looks like cattle cars in use there. First-rate catch.
