Canadian Railroads > Windsor & Hantsport Death MarchDate: 07/21/20 12:02 Windsor & Hantsport Death March Author: cn6218 By the summer of 2010 the WHRC's operations were looking increasingly desperate. The four leased GP9s (from Cando) had been sent back to Manitoba, to be replaced by two Conrail refugees, B23-7s 1968 and 4079 (née 2003), by way of NREX and Nashville & Eastern. There was some sort of problem with the pair that meant they couldn't MU when coupled back to back, so on August 19, 2010 they were running "backwards elephant-style" on the return from the CN interchange in Windsor Jct. They're shown here at Newport Sta., Three Mile Plains, and at the shop in Windsor, NS, yarding the train of covered hoppers.
These would turn out to be the only shots I got of the B-boats working on the WHRC until the last trip to Windsor Jct. in November of the same year. The two GEs and some of their rolling stock have reportedly been hidden away in the shop at Windsor for the past 10 years. Nothing has moved on the rails (except maybe a hy-rail) since then.
