Montreal Electrics in Diesel Mode
Author: cn6218

EXO (current name of(Montreal's commuter agency) purchsed some dual mode diesels for operation through the tunnel to Deux Montagnes and to Mascouche, but with the tunnel now closed and COVID reducing service generally, they may be stored presently.  But on August 3, 2017 things were busier, and 1369 was shoving train 807 towards Montreal at St. Bruno.

This question seems to come up everytime someone posts an AMT/EXO cab car or loco shot.

Municipal Noise By-laws in some of the suburban communities adjacent to the overnight lay-over yards do not permit testing of the horns before the first run in the morning....so an extra set of horns “just in case”

The ALP-45DP dual mode locomotives are in use on most of EXO's routes. The Candiac (Line 4) route is an exception (and possibly they are no longer in use on what's left of the Deux-Montagnes (Line 6) but I have not been up that way lately).

On the Vaudreuil-Hudson (Line 1) line, you's see them only on rush hour trains, however.

What will eventually happen to them is the subject of rumors - I heard about selling them to Toronto so that Toronto could electrify some routes.
