Canadian Railroads > Conventional 120 Nearing HalifaxDate: 08/06/20 06:51 Conventional 120 Nearing Halifax Author: cn6218 120 has been running conventional (no DPU) lately into Halifax. I'm not sure if that is for any particular reason, although trains have been somewhat shorter on average lately. Here is 120 (with only one GE in the consist) passing mile 10 of the Bedford Sub a week ago. With most of the train still descending Bedford Hill, the dynamic brakes are making lots of noise here.
Although most trains have been conventional arriving in Halifax, they still have a DPU when they leave (as 121) each night. And frequently the DPU is on the rear, rather than mid train. This may make things easier in Moncton, where cars are just added on behind the existing DPU. Apparently today's 120 has a DPU mid train and another on the rear (although I haven't seen it yet). GTD |
