There's still quite a few 60+ year old engoines out there. So i dont see what that has to do with anything. 

Question is how were they used and maintained.    (yes, we all know that the correct answer is "Poorly" )

I like old stuff too.  Nothin wrong with that..

Indeed! Many of us on TO would be considered “old stuff”. ;-)
