MLW Monday - M630s near Soda Creek BC
Author: AlcoRSD15

Continuing from an earlier post, Harry Wong and I traveled with Mike Repp to BCRail to capture both MLWs and the new GEs in 1990. As mentioned before, Mike knew exactly where the great photo spots were.  On May 12, 1990, we got a southbound with M630s 717 and 716 at Kersley BC (near Quesnel) (first photo).  After that, Mike drove us ahead to the big trestle south of Soda Creek BC to photograph the train again. The train arrived just before sunset, with the trestle illuminated on a dark background.  Five minutes after the train passed, the sun was gone.  This extraordinary bit of good luck made up for all the times we got screwed by clouds on the rest of the trip.  -- Eric Blasko

That is Deep Creek bridge, mile 330 Prince George subdivision. the bridge was built in 1920, approximately 1200 feet long and 322 feet high.

That's one heck of a bridge. BCR has/had a lot of one-heck-of-a-bridges.

Thanks, hoggerdoug for clarification of the exact location. I wasn’t exactly sure where it was.

Great stuff Eric...

Repp and I tread much of the same ground together on other trips...
