The 'Cabot' was actually the Sydney Section of the e/b Ocean...with a through Coach, Dayniter and Cafe-Lounge from Montreal.

Halifax? No sleeper done as a through car? And aside from the Dayniter and Lounge, rest of the cars all coach? Drawing a blank with the Cabot during this time.......not sure why..........

I guess 'technically' the Cabot was the through train between Sydney and Montreal that only ran for two summers: 1967 on the NTR via Edmundston and in 1968 on the ICR via Campbellton......but to us locals.....#18 and #19 were always the Cabot. At other times it was Sydney Section of the Ocean. Date: 09/10/20 04:43 Re: Riding the 'Cabot' back in '77 Author: ghCBNS With the timetable changes in January 1970. The through cars between Montreal and Sydney came east in the Ocean but now went west in the Scotian. This was just the opposite of the through cars between Montreal and Gaspe: eastbound they were in the Scotian to Matapedia and westbound in the Ocean. (and Gaspe residents probably just called it the Chaleur! :)
