Canadian Railroads > Changes coming to Kamloops East.

Apparently, CP is adding a third track between Kamloops East to Vicars Road crossing (in railroader slang, Kelly Douglas crossing after a long vanished grocery warehouse), a little under a mile from the present Kamloops East control point. Time will tell is the east control point will move to the new location.

My guess is that the previous yard lead will become a signalled track inside the Kamloops yard all the way to Cheng Junction, the CP/CN interchange to the CN Okanagan Spur. Traffic is expected to increase dramatically over this junction as much of the southeast BC coal train traffic is expected to transfer to the CN in 2021.

This is also the route of the "Rocky Mountaineer".

A seldom used hiking trail, the "John Gregson" trail along the South Thompson River banks is to be permanently closed, already replaced by another city engineered trail. Someone who used the old trail noted that "somehow" several tons of concrete were dumped onto the old trail adjacent to a million dollar trophy home making it impassible to bike traffic.

That's good. How many miles of triple track are being added in?

Probably just under a mile beyond the current east control location,
 

What is "Cheng" junction?   The present start of the interchange spur is MP127, right under he Hiway 5 overpass.  
Vicars road crossing is about 126.

The junction between CP and CN in Kamloops was renamed Cheng Junction about 15 years ago.
