An occupied sleeper in the CN Halifax station was not a regular event.
I rode #14 the eastbound Ocean from Montreal and had a reservation for a room in the CN owned hotel next to the station. I thought that would be pretty neat to stay in a railroad owned hotel - but it was not to be.
The train kept getting later and later till finally we were looking at a Halifax arrival after midnight.
In a nice gesture, VIA rounded up all the passengers that had reservations in the CN hotel (about 10 of them) and offered to move us to one sleeper and occupy it in the station till the next morning.
I moved from a roomette to a compartment - happy about that.

A quick shot early on a cold morning.
The car was the Mount Robson.
A 5 compartment, 3 drawing room car built by Pullman Standard for the CN in 1954.

Nice shot in the old Halifax Train Shed.....Thanks!

Those tracks are still used today by the Ocean (when it's running!!) and that old Train Shed (removed in May 1984) would certainly have been appreciated on this day last January!!

Unless the shed was literally collapsing, I don't understand why it was removed.

Probably was cheaper to tear it down then it was to maintain it.

You can feel the moist air just looking at the shot; beautiful B&W.

I look at that picture, and the first thing I think of is "pigeons", and the stuff they leave behind.

Very considerate of VIA of let you stay on the train overnight.  I've stayed at a few railway hotels, and I can't think of anything that sets them apart from other hotels, except when the station is connected to the hotel itself (Halifax and Montreal are two examples).
