Some more work of Guy Chartrand's.  VIA trains east of Montreal.

1.  6760 at St. Lambert, PQ.  12/27/1977.

2.  6769 approaching the train he was riding.  Notes on slide indicate the 6769 was on train # 25.  June 1978 at Villeroy, PQ.

3. Note on slide says October 14, 1979 at Akenakis, PQ.

Nice way to start the week. That last one might be "Abenaki". Any guess on the train portrayed in that photo? Nice streamliner.

I do not know if you read my comment from your last week's post but I think this is your train No.15 "Ocean".  It is the scheduled train (no flags) but without the Gaspe Bay section, while last last week's photo would have been the Gaspe Bay section running as an extra (hence the white flags) from Matapedia to Montreal.  Both photos were take on the morning of December 27, 1977 as per your description.

Might be 'Abenakis'.....located on the Monk Subdivision (now abandoned) south east of Levis along the Riviere Etchemin. This is the old National Transcontinental Railway to Edmundston, New Brunswick.

Here's the VIA schedule for October 14, 1979 showing RDC 'Railiners' #616/617 between Ste-Foy and Edmundston. Perhaps a conventional train was replacing the RDC on that date? (Abenakis was 10 miles east of Ste-Claire in the schedule)

Passenger train ended on this route two weeks later with the restructuring of VIA's trains to the Maritimes.

That 'tell-tale' above the locomotives is interesting. Probably a warning for the bridge where the photographer is standing.
