Summertime on the CBNS
Author: cn6218

About a month before venturing up to the NB East Coast, I spent a few days closer to home, on the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Rwy.  CBNS train 306 was running along the river in Big Tracadie, and about to duck under the Trans Canada Hwy. on August 24, 2008.  Although GP40u 4022 had been officially transferred to the CBNS by this time, it was still showing GEXR reporting marks, having previously been on the Goderich and Exeter in Ontario.  The consist was rounded out by leased units, GP38-2 LLPX 2269, and Helm SD40-2s, 7232, 7869, and 7172.

3 of the units would return from Port Hawkesbury later that afternoon with train 305, while two of the SD40-2s would go back to New Glasgow later that night with a unit coal train loaded at the Strait.
