Canadian Railroads > Rerailing a GMD-1Date: 03/31/21 13:37 Rerailing a GMD-1 Author: Blackfoot In the summer of 1980, GMD-1 #1009 had one of its trucks go off the rails while switching grain cars on the Turtleford Sub, a few blocks from my house in North Battleford SK. It was a pretty minor event, but everybody that was anybody at the local CN yard seemed to show up to fix the problem. With the assistance of a mobile crane and three or four workers, the unit was back on the rails in no time. I guess the other ten or so people on site were either supervising, or just there for moral support.
