Rerailing a GMD-1
Author: Blackfoot

In the summer of 1980, GMD-1 #1009 had one of its trucks go off the rails while switching grain cars on the Turtleford Sub, a few blocks from my house in North Battleford SK.  It was a pretty minor event, but everybody that was anybody at the local CN yard seemed to show up to fix the problem. With the assistance of a mobile crane and three or four workers, the unit was back on the rails in no time. I guess the other ten or so people on site were either supervising, or just there for moral support.

Cheers,
Dwayne

Great to see some pictures from the Battlefords back in the olden days. Thanks for sharing!
