Canadian Railroads > SD40-2 #5589 at Sparwood BC

As I slowly go scanning through all my old pictures and negatives, I keep coming across images like this that I totally forgot about.  In July of 1980, after finishing up a seismic job in the mountains near Blairmore AB, I took a short drive west to see what I could see before heading back to Calgary.  I only made it about 40 km down Highway 3 before it started getting dark, but I was lucky enough to catch this train with four SD40's at Sparwood BC.

I delivered a lot off 19y orders on the  north line off the  cn  from 1962 to 1965. those were good  days. the north line today sees a hell of a lot traffic to prince rupert bc

Thanks Chris, I was always wondering what the purpose of that lantern was.
