Today's "Ocean" Cancelled
Author: DrawingroomA

Due to expected severe weather in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, today's Ocean has been cancelled. I suppose "postponed by 24 hours" would be more accurate as #14 will operate Monday. VIA warns that further changes could happen depending on the weather forecast.

My friends and I have re-booked for next week. As usual, the Moncton call centre staff have been very efficient.

I had always hoped that VIA would not be the wimpy railroad, that Amtrak is, and cancel trains as soon as any adverse weather is rumored.

Horrendous weather hit the eastern part of Nova  Scotia and south-western Newfoundland. It could have easily hit the Halifax area.  If VIA had not postponed #14 and the storm had been a little further west - as was predicted by Environment Canada, not a rumour - there could have been a serious issue. Many questions could be asked as to why VIA operated a train under those circumstances.
