507 Working the Quarry
Author: cn6218

On the afternoon of September 26, 2009, local 507 was working Bedford Quarry, at mile 12.7 of the Bedford Sub in Nova Scotia.  The pair of GP38-2s, 4725 and 4805, were spotting covered hoppers of cement at the "old" quarry and picking up empties.  The black tankcar standing on the main line is likely an asphalt tanker (judging by the lack of a red and white haz mat placard for propane) from the "new" quarry, just out of sight in the right background at mile 13.

25 minutes later, with the work all done, 507 was entering the Transfer Track at Millview with the 6 cars.

Nice shots. Any explanation for the "rouge" 4725 is wearing on its cheeks? There were never any class lights there or anything else to be blanked and filled.

None that I know of.  At least one of the GP9RMs has similar "patches" on the nose, although the body fill hasn't been sanded or any paint applied on that one.

Look a little closer at the second picture. The "rouge" is covering a pair of eyes that somebody painted on the nose.

Some days the 24 inch monitor comes in handy!
