Canadian Railroads > Cn and cp fraser canyon routes to reopen

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the CP mainline through the fraser canyon will reopen today for limited service. CN has announced thier route will reopen Wednesday also with limited service.
Hope fully the heavy rain in the forecast for later in the week does not undo the repairs that they have just made.

No details, I don't see how the CP can open in the Thompson Canyon area because of that big slide / washout. Here's a media article that says open soon:

Maybe they are expecting to use the CN with traffic both ways, or using an alternate route of some sort. The CN / CP crossovers would be around Cisco and Ashcroft, very roughly iirc, perhaps that's the plan.

A photo has been posted showing a westbound cp train crossing the Fraser on thier sisco bridge so it appears that cp line west of sisco is open.

In fact it is the other way around, as CN will be later to re-open than CP.  Some CN westbounds out of Kamloops today were expected to take the Coho/Nepa crossovers west of Ashcroft to join CP at that point, which is the direct opposite of what usually happens.

Curious how it all works out, tremendous geology and feats of engineering, lots of damage too.
Trying to find a list of the CN / CP inteconnects or crossover tracks, I'll keep looking.

RR west of Kamloops, CN and CP connect with dual crossovers at Coho (Mile 57.2 CN Ashcroft Sub.) and Nepa (Mile 54.8 CP Thompson Sub.).  This is the eastern end of the Directional Running Zone, the point where eastbound CN trains operating in the DRZ leave CP track to enter CN track, and where westbound CP trains switch from CP to CN track.

Continuing compass south/RR west from there, the next connecting point is a steep 1.3-mile track that ascends from Mile 100.3 CP Cascade Sub. up to Mile 104.4 CN Ashcroft Sub. (just beyond the RR west end of CN's Cisco Bridge). This is usually used for emergency purposes only, and the switches are oriented against the usual flow of traffic in the DRZ, such that trains running eastbound on CP would have to reverse up the incline to reach CN, and vice-versa.

Good to see a half dozen or so eastbound and westbound container/coal/manifest trains rolling past the Rvelstoke live cam once again! Kudos to CP MOW/Engineering team!

CN has reportedly run at least a couple of Chicago-Vancouver merchandise trains west from Duluth on BNSF.  Whether all the way to. Vancouver or not I don't know.
