Yes, this was because today's TTC was made up of a number of smaller companies, some private, some public. The private companies wanted to maximize earning to they so they would also offer freight service on their lines. The City of Toronto did not want freight cars on their streets so they used a difference gauge to stop the practice. Gerry Gaugl Ottawa ON |
