Canadian Railroads > Train 571, on the former BC RailDate: 06/18/22 20:16 Train 571, on the former BC Rail Author: loleta Train 571 runs between Williams Lake and Prince George on CN's Prince George Sub., a short train between Williams Lake and Quesnel and much longer from Quesnel north to Prince George. Here it is about a month ago:
1. At Mackin siding north of Williams Lake. 2. Near Australian. Loleta Fernbrige Date: 06/18/22 20:18 Re: Train 571, on the former BC Rail Author: loleta 3. Leaving Quesnel.
4. Crossing the Cottonwood River. 6. Picking up some loaded centerbeams at Greening siding. - L.F. Date: 06/18/22 23:41 Re: Train 571, on the former BC Rail Author: TCnR Good stuff, pretty serious scenery.
#2 reminds me of a Gary Larson cartoon. t4p Date: 06/19/22 03:12 Re: Train 571, on the former BC Rail Author: hoggerdoug Nice images, brings back a lot of memories. The last year or two before I retired (2008) I worked the 571 job north from Williams Lake to Prince George. We would do some train marshalling and pickup at Williams Lake then head north doing some work on line at Mackin, Gibraltar and Dragon. At Quesnel we would set off the Quesnel cars and then fill out to "A" rating tonnage generally three units. We would depart Quesnel for Greening, set off all the cars at Greening and then lite engines back to Quesnel. Meanwhile the Quesnel Switcher crew from Prince George arrives at Quesnel in a taxi and get on the lite units from Greening, grab more tonnage at Quesnel and then north to Greening. After picking up the tonnage we left at Greening the Prince George (Quesnel Switcher) crew would run north, doing switching at Dunkley, Colebank and Carrier and eventually into Prince George. Meanwhile me and my Conductor would taxi to Prince George, take maximum rest and then run 570 south Prince George to Williams Lake. PSR at it's finest !!!
