Canadian Railroads > Bras d'Or TuesdayDate: 06/21/22 05:58 Bras d'Or Tuesday Author: cn6218 The Bras d'Or excursion train ran eastward on Tuesdays to Sydney, and then returned to Halifax on Wednesdays during the summers of 2000-2004. On its final eastbound trip, October 12, 2004, F40-PH-2 6409 was leading a 5-car version of the pocket streamliner past the "new" VIA station in Stellarton, NS on the CBNS. This station replaced older stations in New Glasgow, and about a mile west of here in Stellarton, in 1989. It was only in service for about a year before VIA cut all the RDC service in the Maritimes in January, 1990. It now sits on the grounds of the Nova Scotia Museum of Science and Technology, which itself is on the site of a former coal mine. The Bras d'Or only had one "official" intermediate stop, in Port Hawkesbury, so its passengers never used this facility.
