I Can See For Miles & Miles
Author: arwye

The Hatton Hills are a geographic feature Canadian Pacific had to deal with after leaving Maple Creek Saskatchewan and heading west. Which meant swinging far to the north and then winding back down near the Alberta Border. During the steam locomotive era with rising plumes of exhaust smoke, you'd be able to see your train coming for miles and miles. Meanwhile, on June 16, 2001, the Royal Canadian Pacific with CP 1400 & 1900 in charge make their way across this great plain.

I've been there once, for a few hours and two trains, and this brings it all back. Don't take Richard's word for it; this is a lovely spot, easily accessible, and well worth it. Great shots.
