Need name of Train
Author: edsaalig

I was in Jasper on Wednesday, July 27 and saw this 3 car train on a second track next to the station.  Any information on name or where this train was going?

Was it a special?  I did see one person board the train!  Does the yellow strip tell us something about the car?  Is it a courch lounge or a diner

That looks like "The Skeena"...runs from Jasper AB to Prince Rupert BC.

The former "Skeena". It lost its name 13 years ago. Now it is simply Train 5 westbound and Train 6 eastbound.

The name was dropped as of the June 17, 2009, timetable, along with the names of all other VIA trains, except for the Canadian and Ocean.

That's VIA's new livery for cars used in Corridor and eastern services. Some have migrated to the west.

The number appears to begin with an 8, which would make it a coach.

The coach is number 8100.  Is that a full coach?

VIA 8100 ex CP 100, full coach.

A bit of a surprise to see one of those six ex-UP RPO cars (now VIA baggage cars) in the West

Yes, that would be VIA Train 5 or 6 parked at Jasper between runs.
