Canadian Railroads > VIA Rail from Montreal to Santerrre et Jonquiere

Whenever I look at the performace of the VIA rail trains north from Montreal to these two dswtinations and thrir return trips south to
Montreal, they appear to b operation on a different and unique schedule.  What is the story qbout the chqnging and seemingly
irregular of these trains?

Is there a strong demand from MPs in the Cochrane area demanding that VIA rail keep their promise to restore direct service from
Cochrane to Montreal?

The rail line between Cochrane and La Sarre was abandoned a long time ago.  Passenger service between Cochrane and Senneterre was cancelled well before that.

The last run of the Northlander was 28th Sept. 2012.

During two election campaigns ago in 2018 Doug Ford promised to restore the train before the end of the Conservative's first mandate. That didn't happen, but during the more recent election campaign the promise was made again. During the recent throne speech, read by Her Majesty's Ontario representative but written by the government, the promise was made again - with service to both Timmins and Cochrane. Maybe it will happen this time.

I read somewhere it was to be either Cochrane or Timmins, and eventually settled on Timmins.
