New NBSR Train
Author: cn6218

NB Southern has added another pair of trains to their daily 907/908 between Saint John, NB and Brownville Jct., ME.  207 and 208 carry primarily the "junk" traffic, including woodchips for Irving's Saint John pulp mill.  907 and 908 have become the intermodal trains in and out of Saint John, connecting with Canadian Pacific in Brownville Jct.

I caught 207 on the morning of August 29, crossing the Oromocto River, just east of Fredericton Jct., NB.  They had just shy of 100 cars, with half of those being empty woodchip cars going to northern Maine, and on to St. Leonard, NB.  Six of the big SD70M-2s are in service, with 2 each lettered for NB Southern, Eastern Maine and Maine Northern railways.  Business appears to be booming, with some more second hand 4- and 6-axle power on the way.
