Canadian Railroads > Via # 2 not moving

Via train # 2 that left Vancouver at 15:00 is sittiing besde the VIT Intermodal terminal  in Surrey for many hours according to Transdocs. It has gone 30 miles in 12 hrs. Wonder what's up on the Yale sub. Cheers

I have heard there has been a rock slide on one subdivision and a land-slide on another . At least one incident was close to Jasper. I have heard this third-hand, so I can say no more.

I see they are on the move 16hrs and 45 mins late. Cheers

I saw something late last night that mentioned that there was a "track defect" somewhere on the
single track section between Glen Valley and Abrahamson,  Can't remember where I saw it...

Well, if I had to sit 16 hours on a stopped train somewhere, I cannot think of a better train on which to spend my 16 hours stopper!

One would think that having left Vancouver only a matter of hours before that the train was well stocked with food and beverages!

And in a place where a resupply should not be a problem.

There was some discussion of this on the "Rails BC" Facebook page.  Apparently the train sat at Glen Valley
for about four hours before VIA decided to run it back to Thornton Yard.  Ken Storey got a nice video of it
backing through Fort Langley...

Personaly, I'd love to be on this train, though it is currently projected to arrive Toronot at 2:30am. Since that's a "best case" projection, it will probably be later, but still at an ealry pre-dawn hour.

Does anyone (hello, DrawingroomA) know if the passengers will be allowed to remain on the train until a reasonable time, like 7am?

Typically VIA is generous like that for Vancouver arrivals, and Toronto most of the time. However, I've been throw off at Toronto at 1:30 am upon arrival. Be interesting to know what happens!

If #2 continues to be 16 hours late as it is as I type this, arrival in Toronto could be 06:30 tomorrow. As much as three hours could be made up from Capreol to Toronto. Nothing is for certain, but passengers are usually allowed to stay on board when arrivals are in the middle of the night or later. I have been told there is no longer any definite rule.  At one time the rule was 1:00 a.m., but we now know it could be later.

Fridays are the one arrival that has an extra full day before the train becomes #1 on Sunday.

Arrival at Toronto Union was 02:56.

WOW!  Good thing the train did not have to leave as #1 until Sunday!
