Canadian Railroads > 20 Years Ago on the Quebec CentralDate: 11/16/22 12:48 20 Years Ago on the Quebec Central Author: cn6218 On the first day (the sunny one) of that trip to the Quebec Central, October 12, 2002, I caught this FA-1 control cab at Valley Jct. The 616 originally worked for the SP&S on the west coast before being dealt to the LIRR by successor BN. The Long Island used it for years as a control cab/HEP unit for their commuter trains, before it was retired again and purchased by one of the excursion operators on the QC.
The Quebec Central also ran freight trains 20 years ago, although I wasn't lucky enough to see them running. These two GP11s had come from the Illinois Central. There was also an ex-Southern high hood U23B, and what appears to be an Alco or MLW switcher in the background of the first photo, but it doesn't appear on any rosters I've found. GTD |
