Folly Lake Signals
Author: cn6218

Following up on the train L507 from February 16th, here are a few more shots as the train arrived at Folly Lake for a meet with VIA 14.  The first two photos might have been the last chance for 507 to get any sun on this day, as they crossed a small causeway across a cove of Folly Lake at 16:09.  507 was about 7200 feet, and the siding is only 7000, so they held the main, while 14 got a restricting speed aspect (red-over-red-over-yellow)to enter the siding.  Both the enter and leave siding signals were replaced with 3-light masts, implying that the siding may become signaled, or higher speeds are planned at some point.  I didn't stick around to see 14, but heard them passing Wentworth Station about 15 minutes later, so the wait wasn't all that long.

When CTC was first installed in 1944, the enter siding signals were all 3-light, with the idea that they would be upgraded to higher speed some day.  None ever were, and most of the searchlights were replaced with 2 heads on the mast in later years.
