Canadian Railroads > Around Montreal - December 28th 1988

A weeks holiday in and around Montreal over Christmas and New Year in 1988. As well as this day railfanning we also rode the Montreal to Quebec RDC via Trois Riviere.

1: Commuter train from Deux Montagne about to enter Mont Royal tunnel
2: Dorval on the STCUM commuter route with an RS18 subbing for the usual F unit.
3: Over on the adjacent CN line a VIA FP9 on no.32 from Ottawa.

4: My notes say this is no.1 the Montreal section of The Canadian
5: 6768 at Dorval heading to Montreal.
6: a few days later the snow had returned with a vengeance, this was the last shot I took, an EMU at Deux Montagne.

Nice series. I Always liked the box cabs pulling clerestory coaches. A little splash of 1961 paint on some vintage technology.

As I recall I rode the commuter trains.

Too freaky. The STCUM train looked awfully familiar, along with the weather, so I went back in my Logan files, and there it is, shot the next day. I came down from Ottawa with a couple of railfan buddies to see what we could shoot. I see I have scans, so I checked to see if I posted them up on an MLW Monday or not.
